Dr JohnPhotoson Chou was born in Taiwan and grew up in Auckland. He graduated from University of Otago (New Zealand) with a Bachelor Degree in Dentistry in 1998. Dr Chou attended numerous continuing education courses in New Zealand, United States, Brazil and Australia in the field of cosmetic dentistry, orthodontics, dental implants, occlusion and temporomandibular joint disorder. He has completed Graduate Diploma in Clinical Dentistry (Conscious sedation & pain control) with the University of Sydney in 2003 to understand the management of anxious patients. He also worked part time in an orthodontic practice for 3 years. He then went on to complete a three-year Clinical Doctorate in Prosthodontics at the University of Sydney to become a registered specialist Prosthodontist. Dr Chou is a prosthodontic specialist member of the Royal Australia College of Dental Surgeons.

Dr Chou specialises his clinical work in the field of prosthodontics with a special interest in restoring worn teeth, anterior cosmetic work for patients with high expectations. This involves the use of ceramics or composite resins or combination of materials. He was trained under Dr Newton Fahl in Brazil in 2006 who is one of the world leading dentists in aesthetic composite resin placement.
